Test run without IT Band Strap

Yayyy I ran 5 miles today and decided to test out how my IT band felt without the support of the IT Band Strap. Result: It went great! I started out nice and slow and picked up the pace a little at the end but was just trying to have a nice easy run for the IT band.

I still plan on using hte strap every other run for the next week and then only on the long runs for the next month. Hoping that after that I can get out of it altogether. I may have to always use it for my long runs, but we'll see.

If anything I'm thinking I'll just carry it with me on my spibelt (like I did today) so if I feel it getting to the point where it's going to affect my run I'll just put it on mid-run. What do you guys think?

Next week is cutback week! I'm excited lol.

p.s. I was so taken aback by the beauty on my run today I started crying. I think I was just so awestruck and already ecstatic because my knee was doing so well, the emotion just overtook me. It was neato!

p.p.s.s. I have like 50 unread things in my google reader but i'm going to spend later today (after my nap) catching up on all your posts so get ready to have a bunch of comments from me :D. Can't wait to see how everyone is doing!

Yay for healing IT Band! :D

I like the picture here... I've had some on/off outer knee ailments... I wonder if it's my Gerdy's....

  3. Hey Lauren!
I have been weaning (or is it weening?)myself off of my patella band that i have been permanantly attached to for about 2 years now...

i am also just using it on certain runs...

  4. Um.... are there any negative effects to continuing to use the band? If you think it's something you'll have to use in the marathon I would just stick with it for your long runs.

Better to be safe than sorry.

  5. I used to be a super fan of the ITB straps until they failed me miserably during my last marathon. Then I decided that if I ever needed the straps that means that I should stop running and rehabilitate. I think it's a good thing that you're running without them :)
