Greatness is upon us

No idea why I named this blog post something so cheesey but... I feel pretty cheesey right now. Just had an AMAZING 6 miler. I'm talking, left fast, slowed down only once or twice, and came in fast. Felt amazing... figured some stuff out, daydreamed a bit, mostly just enjoyed myself and the power that I felt tonight for some odd reason. This is one of those runs that just "makes life make sense". For some reason everything felt like it was going to be okay and that i was exactly where I needed to be, doing exactly what I needed to be doing at that moment. I teared up a little... and then blew snot on my sleeve (it was a bit chilly and windy). Uh-maz-ing

On another note, someone mentioend in my last blog post they would be scared to run a 700-person marathon in case they end up being the last one, or the only one on the course! I started thinking... what WOULD it be like to be the VERY LAST person on the course? I think as long as they still have aid stations open I'd be okay with it. Official cut off time for this course is 6 hrs 30 minutes. So, I'm thinking I'll be okay :).

That's it... heading to bed now. Got another 13 hour day tomorrow (busy season!!!!!)

  1. Congrats on a great run!

My last marathon had less than 700 people. Yes, it might get lonely in the late miles, but you'll find it a more personal experience all around with runners and volunteers very friendly.

  2. Before I signed up for Ocean Drive (smaller marathon), I made sure there had been plenty of people who came in after my target time in previous results. I don't mind when it gets quiet - it's what I'm used to.

  5. Being last in any race means you will have people waiting for you, cheering for you, happy to end you finish. Maybe they are simply ready to pack up and go home, but you can spin it however you want. I can attest after a recent 10k that the crowd cheered louder for the last finisher than the winner. I know cos I was second and saw the last runner come in.
